Terms of service
Last updated October 1, 2026
These terms apply to merchants who install Mint Cookie Consent ("the app"), made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
The service
The app adds a cookie consent banner to your online store through a theme app embed and saves each shopper's choice with Shopify's Customer Privacy API. With your permission it changes your store's privacy settings in Shopify: it turns off Shopify's own cookie banner when you click the button for it, and writes the consent regions and US states you choose to Shopify's consent settings. On the Pro plan it can also keep a consent log. We may improve or change features; we will not remove a paid feature you rely on without notice.
Not legal advice — your responsibility
The app helps you ask for and record consent. Using it does not by itself make your store compliant with the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the ePrivacy rules, US state privacy laws or any other law. You decide the regions, texts and settings, and you are responsible for your privacy policy, for the cookies and tracking tools on your store (including scripts in your theme that don't use Shopify's Customer Privacy API, which the app doesn't block), and for meeting the requirements that apply to you. Suggested settings, such as the list of US states with privacy laws, are a starting point, not legal advice.
The banner runs in the shopper's browser and needs JavaScript and Shopify's Customer Privacy API. If a shopper blocks scripts, no choice is recorded and Shopify applies your store's defaults for their region. After you uninstall, the regions the app wrote remain in your Shopify privacy settings, and you are responsible for turning Shopify's banner (or another banner) back on.
Billing
Plans are billed by Shopify every 30 days in USD after the free trial. You can cancel at any time by changing plans or uninstalling the app. Charges are handled entirely by Shopify under Shopify's terms.
Availability and liability
We work to keep the app available, accurate and secure, but it is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid for the app in the 3 months before a claim.
Data processing addendum
The app reads no customer data from Shopify. Shoppers' choices are stored by Shopify. If you use the Pro consent log, we store, on your behalf, an anonymous record of each choice: a random consent ID created in the shopper's browser, region, choices, Global Privacy Control signal, banner version, storefront language and time. For that processing you are the controller and we are the processor, and we will:
- process it only to provide the consent log (storage, search and CSV export), following your instructions given through the app's settings;
- never store IP addresses, names, email addresses, customer IDs or browser details in the log;
- delete log entries automatically after 12 months, and all your data 48 hours after you uninstall (shop redaction);
- never sell the data, use it for advertising, combine it across stores, or use it to train AI models;
- keep data confidential and limit access to authorised personnel;
- encrypt data in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Cloudflare D1 encryption at rest);
- use Cloudflare (hosting and database) and Shopify as our only sub-processors;
- help you respond to data subject requests (for example, deleting the entries for a consent ID a shopper gives you), respond to Shopify's customer privacy requests, and notify you without undue delay of any personal data breach.
Changes
We will post changes to these terms here and update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
